Proterra is headquartered within the Coors Technology Center in Golden, Colorado
A 375 acre business and industrial park located at the foot of the North Table Mountain. The park includes a variety of office, high-tech and manufacturing companies. It encompasses over 60 acres of open space and includes softball fields, picnic pavillions, hiking, equestrian and other amenities.
The 13,000 ft facility (expandable to 46,000 ft) is home to the company's research, engineering, development and prototyping functions.
Proterra also has a sales office located in The Environmental Business Cluster(EBC) in San Jose, California. The EBC aids in the formation of technology partnerships and industry networks while helping the city of San Jose in its vision to be a leader in solving the environmental challenges that face the world.
Proterra was founded in 2004 by Dale Hill and the other principals who designed, engineered and led the manufacture of the 36 EcoMark I, 45’ CNG-fueled hybrid-electric shuttle buses which were built for the famous Denver 16th Street Mall.
The fleet has logged over 3 million miles and has carried over 150 million passengers, making it the largest and most successful alternative fueled hybrid-electric vehicle transit bus fleet anywhere in the world.
