Dale Hill - Chairman, Founder and Chief Technology Officer

Dale founded Proterra in 2004 to design and manufacture advanced technology vehicles that are powered by clean domestic fuels. Prior to Proterra, Dale founded TransTeq, the company that designed and manufactured the EcoMark Alternative Fueled Hybrid-Electric Vehicle for the Denver Regional Transit District. Dale was also a co-founder of Alumatech which manufactures aluminum dump trailers and Tech-Weld, a welding supply company. Through his leadership, Tech-Weld became Houston's third largest supplier to the welding industry.

Dale earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. Dale has over 35 years experience in executive management and sales in the transportation and engineering fields. He holds three patents, is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers and American Welding Society, and has published several papers.


Jeff Granato - President and CEO

Jeff has been organizing and leading business growth and related infrastructure development for over twenty years. Mr. Granato has led large-scale, global business development efforts in retail, telecom, healthcare and financial services companies in various senior management roles. He also served as Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Co. as a member of their Global Growth Strategy Practice. Jeff has also led the development of global operating and supply chain platforms for Waldo's Dollar Mart de Mexico, Boston Chicken, Inc. and Einstein Noah Bagel Corp. Jeff has worked as principal investor from within venture capital and private equity funds and he also represented investors as a Senior Analyst for Ernst & Young's M&A Advisory Services in Chicago, IL.

Jeff holds his Bachelor of Arts in Finance from DePaul University in Chicago, IL and his Masters from J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Chicago, IL.


Joshua Goldman - Director, Business Development

Joshua is one of the leading experts on heavy vehicle hybrid systems design and fabrication, and has been instrumental in the application of hybrid drive systems to buses and other heavy vehicles. As an engineer and manager for ISE Corporation, Joshua was responsible for the development and certification of gasoline, diesel and hydrogen fuel cell hybrid drive systems. Joshua was integrally involved in the design development and certification of all of the ISE / Siemens jointly developed hybrid drive systems. He has published multiple technical papers related to the hybrid-electric propulsion systems and is a regular and respected presenter at APTA conferences and seminars.

Joshua holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.


Robert Schram - Director, Marketing

Bob has spent more than 40 years in marketing and management positions. He brings to the company knowledge and experience that will help place Proterra at the leading edge of transportation sales in the 21st century. Bob was Director of Marketing for TransTeq. Prior to TransTeq, he founded Great Western Machine Tool, Inc. and served as its President, building the business to serve over 3,500 active customers. He also founded and was President of R.J. Schram Consulting, providing organizational, sales leadership and program development to shape businesses around Chicago and Denver into profit-making companies.

Bob earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business and an MBA from Regis University in Denver, CO.


Ben Van der Linden - VP, Operations

Ben offers wide-ranging bus experience. He served as Senior Engineer and Director of Research and Development for North American Bus Industries on various low-floor and CNG buses. He was responsible for the 40' and 45' CompoBus designs. He also designed and managed installation of components of Neoplan's all fiberglass composite bus. In addition to his bus experience, Ben has established and managed production of sports cars such as the Cobra 427 for Shelby American management Corp and Sports Renault racecars for SCCA Enterprises. He is named in two bus patents.

Ben holds a BS in Automotive Engineering from the College for Automotive Engineering in Apeldoom, the Netherlands.



Reuben Sarkar - Director of Engineering

Reuben has more than ten years progressive engineering and management experience, focusing on advanced fuel efficient powertrain technologies.  He brings to Proterra in-depth experience executing new advanced propulsion programs with accelerated time to market requirements.  While at General Motors, Reuben was in charge of multiple product development teams for 2-mode hybrid transaxles.  Most recently, Reuben held the role of lead design release engineer on the Voltec® electric drive unit for the Chevy Volt, where he was responsible for the engineering execution, from paper concept into production intent builds.

Reuben holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Chemical Engineering as well as an MBA, all from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.
